The office conducts researches on population, health and nutrition; provides training and consultancies; and publishes its findings in order to contribute to local, sub-national, and national development initiatives while promoting the research culture of the university.

Survey Design and Implementation

The office has the capability and experience of conducting longitudinal and cross sectional surveys, designing and implementing local surveys for academe, NGOs and government organizations and for local and international organizations (Please see List of Projects).


With its highly qualified personnel, the office provides short-term programs/consultancies on survey and questionnaire design, dietary assessment, and nutrition evaluation. The office also provides trainings on population and development, and conducts orientation and training seminars for teachers on population and development education.

Research publication and dissemination

The office staff continuously publish their work in peer reviewed international and local journals (see List of publications). An in-house report/working paper/policy note series series provides an additional venue for OPS research dissemination. The associates are also actively involved as oral or scientific poster presenters, session chairs or discussants in international and local scientific conferences.

Computing Facilities

With its own network of computing facilities, the office supports a variety of statistical software databases, graphics, office suites programs and has geographic information system (GIS) capabilities.
